Case Studies
These case studies will show you how REAL people get REAL results with ancient, low tech medicine (a few pieces of stainless steel and some ground up plants!). For obvious reasons I won’t be getting into the details of treatment ...you would be quickly swamped by TCM jargon ... so I will limit these stories to general conditions and results. Addiction and DepressionOn the surface, Tom appeared to be very bright and cheery. Yet underneath was a very different story. Tom was struggling to overcome an long term pattern of prolific, daily smoking of marijuana. He had smoked marijuana for eleven years and had been a heavy user for the past seven years. On top of that he was subject to depression and melancholy, loss of motivation, suicidal thoughts, poor concentration and fatigue. I gave Tom a single acupuncture treatment and for at least four months since he has not used marijuana and is adamant he will never again be a regular smoker. This is what he reported to me: “The day after the treatment I felt distinctly unsettled. I had told myself I would have one last fling, which I did that evening. The next day I felt seriously depressed. I spent the whole day in bed, stressing about my situation and talking with my girlfriend. By that evening I faced the decision squarely and ‘click’ it all fell into place. A great weight immediately lifted from me and I climbed out of my depression. It felt like a final fight between two parts of myself. Until the acupuncture treatment I hadn’t ever been able to make a clear decision. Since that treatment life, has turned on its head. I feel fabulous and very positive.” So what did I do? Well you can read all about it in the formal academic paper on our website (see details below). But I’ll tell you here that the success of the treatment was a combination of a well thought out treatment combination, Tom’s own will and a considerable dose of psychotherapy. I took the time to explain to Tom the implications of the overall treatment pattern and several of the more significant points. This explanation focused Tom’s mind on the process and supported his expectation of imminent change. Tom was thereby given a vision of a treatment targeted towards removing blockages and supporting his will. One look at his tongue (very red with a thick phlegmy coat) was enough to tell me he was subject to large doses of anger and irritability. His headaches were pretty well constant and a heavy smoking habit wasn’t exactly making a positive contribution to his health. The first treatment I gave him was straight acupuncture. He walked out free of pain (and with a dumfounded look on his face).
